To ensure Seranote creates the best notes, the audio quality must be sufficient. Clear and distinct audio reduces the risk of misunderstood words. For example, audio quality may degrade if the patient is far from the microphone during an examination.

It is not always possible to have perfect audio conditions during a consultation, but following these simple tips can improve the sound—and thus result in better and more precise notes.

  1. Ensure a good microphone: The built-in computer microphone is usually not sufficient. New Seranote users can receive a microphone for free when starting the service. For home visits, a mobile phone microphone is often sufficient if using Seranote via the phone.
  2. Place the microphone between you and the patient: Ensure the microphone is positioned so both you and the patient speak into it.
  3. Avoid covering or shielding the microphone: The microphone should stand freely to capture sound clearly.
  4. Speak clearly and with good volume: When examining the patient, it is beneficial to speak loudly and clearly while describing exactly what you see and do.
    • Example: “I am examining your right foot now. I can see it is quite swollen on the outside” instead of “Let’s look at it. I can see there is some swelling here.”
    • If the patient is examined away from the microphone (e.g., on a bed), it is a good idea to return to the microphone after the examination to summarize so the conversation is captured clearly again.

When you have created a note in Seranote, you can see the words the system has captured from the conversation under the Transcription tab in the top right.

If audio conditions are good, there will normally be very few errors in the text. It is therefore a good idea to check the transcription if you want to verify how accurately the sound is being captured.

Tip: You can also use the shortcut Ctrl+F to quickly search for specific words in the transcription.

How do I add patient information to the note?

Section titled “How do I add patient information to the note?”

You can enter patient information collected before the consultation, such as blood pressure measurements or temperature, so there is more context before the conversation with the patient starts. This information is written in the text field before starting the recording.

To start a new conversation, ensure the default setup matches your preferences. You can add patient information if desired, and then press Start conversation. The recording of the conversation with the patient begins immediately. You can pause or resume the recording at any time.

The same procedure applies to other functions such as certificates and dictation.

The system inserts *** in the note if the conversation contains information about, for example, blood tests without a specific value mentioned. By pressing F2 (or fn + F2), you can easily jump to these markers and add the missing values directly in the note.

How can I continue an ongoing conversation?

If you want to add more information to an existing note, you can press Resume recording and add information verbally, press the dictation icon next to the relevant section, write in the note field, or manually enter information in the relevant sections.

Seranote is a web application, which means you can open a browser on your phone and go to app.seranote.dk just as you do on a computer. This makes it possible to use the system for home visits and other consultations outside the clinic.
